About the CCAC

The Columbus Community Abolition Collective (CCAC) is a reading and discussion-based group on abolition. We believe in a world free of prisons, police, detention centers, and all other forms of carceral violence.

Formed in Spring 2025, the CCAC hosts an informal monthly reading group where we gather to discuss abolition as a form of knowledge, creativity, refusal, and community building. We believe study is an integral part of abolition, both to understand the violence of the carceral system as well as to do the work of imagining alternatives.

Knowledge should not be monopolized by formal educational institutions nor only those with the means to pay for it. Of course, study is not the only important part of liberation, and we don’t claim to have all the answers or solutions. No group can be everything, but we hope that the CCAC can play a humble role in imagining a world free of prisons.
